The story so far
Joe grew up in Silicon Valley surrounded by technology, getting his start in the database market before making the switch to healthcare. He joined the early team at eHealthInsurance which brought the buying and selling of health insurance online during the first Internet boom. Joe was then part of the founding team at Extend Health which was the first private Medicare exchange in the country and helped scale that business through its acquisition by Towers Watson and beyond. WithMe Health founders, Chris Price and Ash Damle, recruited Joe to be CEO of their company.
Michael knew Chris, Ash and Joe from their individual prior pursuits. He had been keeping an eye on WithMe Health from its origins at Oak HC/FT as Greta Health and monitoring the company’s progress from afar. But only after reconnecting with the three of them at the JP Morgan Conference and hearing the update, did it all click. Michael has long had an investment thesis in health tech centered on 3 key principles: 1) the healthcare journey is hard to navigate; 2) patients are poor consumers and ill-equipped to make that journey by themselves; 3) the last mile in healthcare is often best expressed a tech-enabled healthcare service – and WithMe Health was addressing this in the medication and pharmacy benefits realm.”
Since OMERS Ventures led a $20M Series B in June 2020, Michael has helped Joe evolve the WithMe Health vision, such that today, the company services self-insured employers and provides medication guidance and pharmacy benefit navigation to their employees while working with an employer’s existing PBMs or offering an alternative PBM solution if desired. The company launched its inaugural customer in the fall.
