The story so far
Julian and Dan had been at consulting group, McKinsey & Company for many years and would look at each part of their clients’ business and notice areas that were underperforming in comparison to other parts of the firm. They would focus on where they could increase sales, or where the costs were too high, or places that needed general improvement. They saw an opportunity to create a product that could do this, as with the right data it ought to be possible to go into more detail, and fix the fundamental mismatch between the data-driven ideas at the center and the day-to-day operations of the business.
Their aim was to help everyone in an organisation realise the areas for improvement that can allow them to do their jobs better, rather than just present to senior management and let them filter the information down. They founded Quorso in 2016, which is an intelligent retail app that seeks to revolutionise store management, by making sure every store fixes their top three performance leaks, every day, for good.
Managing Partner, Harry Briggs and Julian were friends from university and also worked with each other at McKinsey, so after an initial conversation in August 2019, OMERS Ventures invested in November of that year. To date, Quorso has many notable clients including the largest contract foodservice company in the world, Compass Group which has over 600,000 employees.
